1. When is the next Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) scheduled?

Please visit http://www.fl.nesinc.com/FL_testdates.asp

2. How many tests can I take on a single day?

On any test date you may take one or two tests. Refer to the following guidelines for permissible testing combinations:

  • You may take only one subject area examination per test date.

  • In one day you may take the Professional Education Test and one subject area examination, except for Elementary Education K-6, which is an all-day test and must be taken alone.

  • The General Knowledge Test consists of four subtests and cannot be combined with any other test on the same day. However, if you register for the General Knowledge Essay subtest only, you may combine the Essay in the morning with the Professional Education Test in the afternoon.

  • The Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE) consists of three subtests. Subtests 1 and 2 are administered in the morning; subtest 3 is administered in the afternoon. The FELE cannot be taken with any other test on the same day.

3. How much do the tests cost?

Please visit http://www.fl.nesinc.com/FL_testfees.asp

4. What should I do the day of the test?

Your admission ticket lists your test selection, test site, test date, and reporting time. Please report to the test site no later than your scheduled reporting time. The reporting time on the admission ticket is not the time the test actually begins. Administration preparations, including verifying identification, seating examinees, recording general information, and distributing test books must take place before the actual testing begins. These preparations take approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Late Arrival Policy

You should plan to arrive early enough to locate parking and your test room before preparations for the test administration begin. You will not be admitted after the test room has closed and instructions are being read. If you are taking the General Knowledge Test or FELE and arrive after the first subtest has begun, you will not be admitted until the admission time for the next subtest.

Absentee Policy

If you fail to take, retake, or complete a test for which you are registered on a scheduled test date, no fees or charges will be refunded; however, there are two conditions under which your test registration may be transferred to a subsequent administration:

  • Illness or injury of the examinee or a member of the examinee's immediate family that prevents the examinee from taking the test;
  • Death of a member of the examinee's immediate family within 15 days before the test date.
The term immediate family is defined as the examinee's spouse and the grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren of both the examinee and the spouse.

To request a transfer, send the following to NES at the address listed in "Contacts" section of your registration:
  • A letter stating the reason you were prevented from taking the test; AND
  • In the case of illness or injury, a signed letter attesting to the illness or injury from a medical doctor, physician's assistant, or nurse practitioner on official letterhead stationery. Letters written on prescription forms are not acceptable; however, "return to work" authorization letters are acceptable; OR
  • In the case of a death, a dated newspaper obituary or a dated funeral program stating your relationship to the deceased.
The letter and the documentation of illness, injury, or death must be received in the FTCE/FELE program office within 30 calendar days (including weekends and holidays) after the missed test date.

Test Cancellation Policy

In the event that it becomes necessary to cancel a test administration at a test site or sites due to severe weather conditions or a natural disaster (e.g., flood, fire), the cancellation announcement will be posted on the FTCE/FELE program Web site at www.fl.nesinc.com. In addition, the cancellation announcement will be available as a recorded telephone message at (413) 256-2893. You will be advised by e-mail and U.S. mail as soon as the test administration has been rescheduled.

Unless a test administration at a given test site is officially cancelled, the test administration will be conducted as scheduled. If you miss a test administration that has not been officially cancelled, you will be considered absent and will not receive a refund or credit of any kind.
